Summary: From Birth to Now
Comment: We've used this car seat from birth. My daughter is 24 lbs and 21 months, and we still have her rear-facing. There are numerous studies in the Injury Prevention Journal indicating this is the safest position for her.

We had the seat professional installed and it worked perfect for our almost 8 lbs newborn daughter. She left the hospital in this seat, and we've been 100% pleased.

I've washed the cover twice in a year and a half. I washed it on cold and hung it to dry. It is easy to take on and put off. I've installed the seat in several other cars due to traveling and it couldn't be easier. I know it's safe. It's obvious she's comfortable as she doesn't fuss when we put her in it.

I felt compelled to write this review because I saw someone else said you couldn't use it for a newborn. YES, you can. It's rated as such and it worked great.

Summary: Fits well in cars.
Comment: I have 2 Britax car seats for my sons and they are well worth the price! They fit better in the many cars we have put them in. The latch is very easy to use. If you don't have a latch there is a clip at the side top of the seat to help install with a seatbelt. (makes it snug). My sister tried other seats and then switched to Britax too. I thought they were expensive at first, but your kids are worth a well fitted car seat. My son's find them comfy too. As with any car seat- if it doesn't fit well (very snug) in your car- find one that does!

Summary: Perfect for airplane travel and rental cars at destination
Comment: Perfect for airplane travel and rental cars at destination

This car seat is perfect for airplane travel and use in rental cars at your destination due to its compact size and easy installation. I used it successfully on short and long flights (up to 5 hours) - please see pictures posted.

The following tips helped me:

* Get to the gate early and ask to board along with first class as you'll need 5-10 minutes to install the seat. Have someone hold your baby.

* There is about an inch of clearance after installation on a 767 plane of American airlines coach. Smaller AA planes may have almost no clearance but you can still install it. The person in front won't be able to recline, so to keep everyone happy, buy the seat in front of baby for your spouse.

* The rear-facing tether attachment or the D-ring adaptor are not used on the plane, but you will need it at your destination. Clip the D-ring to the tether and remember to take it off the rental car when dropping it off. You can get an extra D-ring at car seat safety inspection sites for about $5 just in case you lose it or forget it.

* The latch connectors must be tucked inside the seat as shown in the instructions (there's a slot they fit into under the foam).

* When installing rearfacing, get a tight fit by reclining the airplane seat first, then pass the seatbelt through the slots as shown in the manual/ picture. Put your knee on the seat to weigh it down, tighten the seatbelt, and then put the plane seat back in its upright position.

* If the lap belt is too short, ask for a belt extender.

* The plane's belt buckle will be under baby's bottom, but the foam on the Britax cushions it significantly. Car seats without thick padding will likely be uncomfortable for baby, especially on long trips.

* The Britax belly pad is easy to lose at this point as you need to take it off the crotch strap to install the seat, so remember to put it away and/ or put it back on.

* IMPORTANT: Plane belts buckle in the center, not on the side like a car's; if installing forward facing, remember to adjust the base accordingly (not reclined). Ask for a seat belt extender and flip the buckle over a half turn (away from car seat), as if the seatbelt buckle/ clasp is tight against the car seat you won't be able to lift it to release it! See page 20 in the manual for instructions.

Summary: Excellent quality, made in USA
Comment: Like many others, I searched for many hours looking at car seat reviews. Safety was my #1 concern, comfort for baby a close second, and quality along with fitting well in the car (i.e. not having to move the front seat way forward) third and fourth. I also spoke with co-workers who had purchased car seats to get their feedback. Britax was widely praised by the people I spoke to, and the reviews also led me in the same direction. Overall this particular model matched my criteria best - it has a solid design, high quality components, kids supposedly find it very comfortable, and it fits well in our compact car.

Delivery was prompt and the chair meets expectations and I would recommend it to others. Two pluses that were not clear from the reviews:
* The chair is made in the USA! I am sick of finding "Made in China" in everything we buy and where possible make an effort to buy from either local sources, or at least countries that are not as oppressive as China. It was a very positive surprise to find this chair was made in the USA (albeit with foreign components).
* The box was made in the USA as well, and was very small - just enough to safely cover the chair. I admire such economy of packaging, both from a design and environmental viewpoint.

I highly recommend this chair!

Summary: Great safe car seat
Comment: This was the highest rated Consumer Reports car seat and is smaller than the Britax Marathon. It was easy to install, especially for the LATCH system cars and easy to use. No complaints and our son likes it better.
